The Commission on Higher Education – Caraga Regional Office (CHED Caraga) held a digital poster-making contest with students from various Caraga Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) on the afternoon of August 12, 2021 via ZOOM Teleconferencing and Facebook Live as part of the activities for the month-long celebration of the 54th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Founding Anniversary.

Working with the theme, “Padyak! Moving forward, claiming victory for the Philippine Higher Education (PHE) in the ASEAN Community,” eleven (11) competing teams composed of up to three (3) members were challenged to create a digital poster reflecting the theme in under three hours, all while live via ZOOM. The eleven teams represented their respective HEIs: Agusan Colleges Inc. (ACI), Agusan del Sur College (ADSCO), Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT), Caraga State University – Cabadbaran (CSUCC), Caraga State University – Main (CSU), Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU), Merchant Marine Academy of Caraga Inc. (MMACI), Philippine Normal University – Mindanao (PNU Mindanao), Surigao del Sur State University – Lianga (SDSSU Lianga), Surigao del Sur State University – Main (SDSSU Tandag), and Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT).

The resulting entries of each team were then subjected to judging by a panel of judges, composed of the following: Ms. Jennifer P. Gaitano, Information Officer II at the Philippine Information Agency Caraga; Mr. Chardy C. Fernando, Special Science Teacher III at the Philippine Science High School Caraga Region Campus; and Dr. Criseldo C. Calinawan, Education Supervisor II at CHED Caraga.

Alongside the judging process, entries were also uploaded to the official Facebook Page of CHED Caraga where Facebook users can vote on their favorite posters by “reacting” to them. The poster with the highest number of votes through this platform went on to win the Netizen’s Choice Award.

Participants had to endure a lengthy wait, as the winners for the competition were announced later in the month during the Culmination Program on August 27, 2021. The resulting winners were as follows: 1st Place with a cash prize of Php 3,000 – Hannah Clarice P. Cagadas and Shanley Mangomayao of PNU Mindanao; 2nd Place with a cash prize of Php 2,000 – Reven Jay D. Anodan of ACI, and 3rd Place with a cash prize of Php 1,000 – King James D. Malupa of SSCT.
