The Commission on Higher Education – Caraga Regional Office (CHED Caraga), together with five (5) Caraga-based Broadcasting Stations, formalized a partnership through an Online Symbolic Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the afternoon of August 9, 2021 via ZOOM Teleconferencing and Facebook Live as part of the activities for the month-long celebration of the 54th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Founding Anniversary.

The five Broadcasting Stations present, together with CHED Caraga Regional Director Dr. Leonida Calagui, simultaneously signed their copies of the MOA after a brief presentation of the contents of the document by Chief Administrative Officer Ms. Alma Sy Patron.

The signatories for the five partner Broadcasting Stations present were: Philippine Electronics and Communication Institute of Technology (PECIT) President Engr. Romeo Zerrudo for the DXGL Broadcasting Station; Municipal Mayor of Del Carmen Hon. Proserfina M. Coro and Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT) President Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa Jr. for the Radyo Kabakhawan Broadcasting Station; Saint Jude Thaddeus Institute of Technology (SJTIT) President Engr. George Salabao for the DXSJ Broadcasting Station; Saint Michael College of Caraga (SMCC) President Rev. Fr. Ronniel Babano for the DXSM Broadcasting Station; and Mr. Jose L. Toyco for the STIP Enchanted FM Broadcasting Station.

“Together through this partnership, we can work towards ensuring that our radio and television programs share information and inspiration that can encourage the bright minds in Caraga, no matter their socioeconomic background, to widen their perspectives as to how they can maximize their own potentials through the power of higher education,” said Director Calagui.

After the symbolic signing, the five partner Broadcasting Stations shared their excitement for the future endeavor.

“We are very glad and very happy and we will continue to support the endeavor of Director Calagui and CHED with this Memorandum of Agreement in order to solidify and concretize the program […] to serve the greater majority of Surigao Del Norte,” said Dr. Gamboa in behalf of Radyo Kabakhawan

Co-signatory for Radyo Kabakhawan, Hon. Coro, said in agreement, “as the LGU Del Carmen’s goal [is] to strengthen good education [and] governance, this will be our pleasure to inform our dear listeners with important and relevant news regarding education.”

“We are very pleased to help the program of CHED Caraga,” remarked Engr. Zerrudo in behalf of the DXGL Broadcasting Station, who also expressed their willingness to give CHED Caraga airtime, not just in their radio channel, but their television channels as well.

“I would like to express the utmost gratitude for the trust and confidence you have extended to DXSM 89.5 FM Station as a partner. [We] will continue to partner with CHED to realize its aim of promoting and sustaining ASEAN awareness in the region,” said Rev. Fr. Babano.

“We are very happy and grateful that CHED Caraga has acknowledged us and included us to be a partner in this event,” shared Student Affairs and Services Director Mr. Elmer Beloy in behalf of Engr. Salabao and DXSJ Broadcasting Station.

“We are happy that we are part of the advocacy of CHED Caraga. We are a community broadcasting station, that’s why we are happy that we are part of the bigger stations that are now operating in partnership with CHED,” shared Mr. Toyco, proprietor of STIP Enchanted FM.

Also in attendance to witness the signing were the various Station Managers and the key officials of the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) operating the broadcasting stations.

Officer in Charge – Supervising Education Program Specialist Mr. Amy Saavedra concluded the event with his closing remarks.
