The Commission on Higher Education – Caraga Regional Office (CHED Caraga) hosted the ASEAN Culinary Expo 2023 as part of the activities organized in celebration of this year’s 56th ASEAN Founding Anniversary with the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth” on September 14, 2023 at the Provincial Capitol Covered Court, Butuan City.
Organized in partnership with the Caraga Council of Tourism Deans and Educators (CCTDE), the culinary expo was participated by bonafide hospitality management students from the different public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Caraga Region. They competed in the five (5) identified categories, namely: Fruit and Vegetable Carving, Chef’s War, Dessert Flambe, Dessert Buffet Set-up and Dual Flairtending.
This one-day activity was also attended by the deans and program heads of the public and private HEIs offering Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management Program. The participating HEIs were the following:

The ASEAN Culinary Expo was organized to develop friendly competition and camaraderie among hospitality management students in Caraga Region, as well as showcase exemplary knowledge and culinary skills of the students in different categories of the competition.
Judging the various competition categories were exceptional experts in their respective fields: Chef Marvin Millanes, Sous Chef of Almont Beach Resort Surigao City; Chef Paolo Andaya Lumbres, Owner and Head Chef of Food Coma BXU; Mr. Aga Marcholo Ringor, General Manager of Torque Coffee; Mr. Dante Reveche, President of the Caraga-Agusan-Butuan Allied Hotels & Restaurants Association; and Mr. Soljin Robles, Event Stylist and Owner of S Team Events.
