The Commission on Higher Education – Caraga Regional Office (CHED Caraga), in cooperation with the Caraga Council of Tourism Deans and Educators (CCTDE), conducted an orientation on the Transnational Higher Education in the Context of Tourism and Hospitality Education on September 26, 2024 at Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center, Butuan City.

The seminar was attended by the deans and educators of various tourism and hospitality programs of 16 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the region, all of which were acknowledged and recognized by CCTDE President Dr. Celso E. Felipe Jr. and welcomed by CHED Caraga Chief Education Program Specialist Dr. Julia Felisa C. Martinez.

The orientation proper was delivered by Project Technical Staff III for Internationalization Ms. Kershey Reign E. DueƱas, who discussed the salient provisions of the Republic Act. No. 11448 or the Transnational Higher Education (TNHE) Law, and other related issuances and programs. Representing the Regional Focal Person for Internationalization, Education Supervisor II Mr. Amy C. Saavedra, she also discussed the Philippine Internationalization Roadmap and the Ways Forward for Caraga HEIs with tourism and hospitality programs.

Dr. Gloria Baken Wong Siy, President Emeritus and National Lead Trainer for the Association of Administrators in the Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Management Educational Institutions (AAHRMEI), served as the guest speaker for the activity. She discussed the Perspectives on Internationalization in the Context of Tourism and Hospitality Education as a seasoned expert in the tourism education sector.

The Regional Office through its TNHE unit extends its gratitude to the CCTDE for its support and coordination in the conduct of the activity.
