The Commission on Higher Education – Caraga Regional Office held a series of activities with the Caraga Higher Education Institutions’ (HEIs) student leaders, faculty and personnel, and presidents and key officials to culminate and conclude the 4th National Higher Education Celebration and 30th CHED Founding Anniversary on May 28, 2024 at Saint Vincent De Paul Diocesan College Gymnasium, Bislig City.

The day was divided into two parts: the Higher Education Caravan 2024 in the morning and the Friendship Games or Laro ng Lahi during the afternoon.

The caravan was a multi-agency endeavor which was made possible by the partnership of the following Caraga Regional Line Agencies (RLAs) and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs): National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and Caraga Higher Education Institutions.

During the caravan, a series of key topics were discussed by focal persons from the various partner agencies:

  • Adbokasiya Laban sa Iligal na Droga (ALAB) – Mr. Dindo Abellanosa, Chief, PECISec, PDEA 13
  • Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program – Julius Carrido, CLGOO, DILG 13
  • Intermission Number – Andres Soriano Colleges of Bislig Students
  • Briefing on the National Security Awareness – Mr. Dave Villarin, Chief, Information Management Branch, NICA
  • Functions and Roles of Student Crime Prevention Council (SCPC) – Mr. Ever Joy Rabadan, Education Supervisor II
  • SCPC Oath Taking – Ms. Arlene S. Solis, Planning Officer III, NAPOLCOM 13

During the Laro ng Lahi, the following games were played with a mix of individual, HEI teams, and mixed HEI teams categories. CHED Caraga personnel also participated in these games as a team:

  • Balloons and Caterpillars
  • Bring Me Jerusalem
  • Walkin’ Haponesa
  • Torta Game

An awarding ceremony was conducted to recognize the efforts and support given by the HEIs for the celebration of the 4th National Higher Education Day and 30th CHED Founding Anniversary. The program concluded with a lively community singing by the signers of De La Salle John Bosco College.
