Seven (7) higher education institutions (HEIs) in Caraga actively joined this yearโs CHED RAISE: Responding through Artificial Intelligence for Societal Empowerment held on February 25-27, 2026 at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City.
Inspired by the theme, โRaising AI Education. Empowering Society.,โ the event convened higher education leaders, policymakers, faculty members, and stakeholders to advance discussions on the responsible, ethical, and inclusive integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in Philippine higher education.
During the summit, Caraga State University (CarSU) showcased its research and development project, โCooperative Unified Logistics Using Intelligent Grouped Robots (COULIGLIG),โ highlighting its innovative research and technological initiative that integrates artificial intelligence, robotics, and intelligent systems to support smart and automated logistics solutions. This effort is one of the universityโs commitment to advancing AI-driven innovation, interdisciplinary research, and technology development aligned with emerging industry needs.
Participating Caraga HEIs include Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT), Caraga State University (CSU), Merchant Marine Academy of Caraga, Inc. (MMACI), Northeastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU), Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT), Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU), and Saint Paul University Surigao (SPUS).
Leading the delegation was CHED Caraga Regional Director, Dr. Nelia A. Alibin, together with Mr. Amy C. Saavedra, MSCA, Education Supervisor II and Internationalization Focal.
The higher education community in the region continues its pursuit of the adoption of AI to support teaching, research, extension, and institutional governance while safeguarding academic integrity and equitable access.
