The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Caraga Regional Office successfully conducted the webinar entitled, โVolunteerism 101 for Higher Education,โ on September 25, 2025 via zoom.
The activity was organized under the National Service Training Program (NSTP), for the purpose of strengthening the institutionalization of volunteerism as a key strategy for community engagement and nation-building.
Experts from the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), Mr. Kenneth Siruelo, Supervising Volunteer Service Officer, and Mr. Jeffrey Almazan, Volunteer Service Officer II, shared significant insights on volunteerism, along with relevant government thrusts, and the crucial role of the academe in nurturing a culture of service among students.
It also featured sharing of best practices from Caraga State University (CSU) and Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT), highlighting exemplary volunteerism initiatives that serve as models for replication and enhancement in other HEIs.
The event was joined by a total of 100 participants, composed of NSTP Directors, Coordinators, Community Extension Services (CES) Heads across the region, together with various CHED Caraga personnel.
