The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Caraga commenced this year’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of higher education institutions (HEIs) with its first successful M&E at Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT) on January 26-27, 2026.
The monitoring focused on SJIT’s implementation of all its undergraduate programs and non-teacher education graduate programs, institutional services and requirements, and evaluation of the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) implementation. Various scholarship concerns were also addressed during the visit.
CHED Caraga also conducted an initial assessment of the school’s readiness for Autonomous and Deregulated status, in line with the Commission’s intent to recognize excellence among HEIs and promote innovation by providing greater institutional freedom.
The visit was composed of CHED Caraga’s technical team headed by Dr. Julia Felisa C. Martinez, Chief Education Program Specialist, together with Dr. Rolyna S. Trugillo, Supervising Education Program Specialist, and Education Supervisors, Dr. Criseldo C. Calinawn, Dr. Frederick C. Amihan, Mr. Amy C. Saavedra, MSCA, and Mr. Ever Joy G. Rabadan, MSc., MaEM.
Regular M&E of HEIs is being undertaken by the Commission to ensure continued delivery of quality education and compliance with existing Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSGs).
