During the 2024 Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS) Innovative Awards on May 17, 2024, three (3) Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from the Caraga Region were selected and recognized as national finalists for their efforts and initiatives in the implementation of their plans, programs, and projects on anti-illegal drugs in compliance with Executive Order No. 66, S. 2018, “Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy,” for drug-free educational institutions and a drug-free Philippines.

The following three (3) HEIs were invited to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central Office for the awarding ceremony: The Philippine Normal University – Mindanao Campus (PNU Mindanao) garnered a place in the Top 10 HEIs and received an award for this achievement. The Philippine Electronics and Communication Institute of Technology (PECIT) and Saint Michael College of Caraga (SMCC) were recognized as National Finalists.

CHED Caraga was also presented a plaque of commendation for the active participation in the implementation of drug education and prevention plans, programs and projects.

The PADS Innovative Awards is a contest organized by CHED which aims to showcase the significant strategies, projects, and innovations being implemented by HEIs in the country to comply with the aforementioned Executive Order and to strengthen their anti-illegal drugs program in their respective institutions.
