The Commission on Higher Education – Caraga Regional Office (CHED Caraga) organized four (4) webinars as part of the activities held in celebration of the ASEAN 55th Founding Anniversary. The webinars were held in batches on August 22 and August 30, 2022, and attended by students, faculty, and personnel from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Caraga Region.
On August 22, 2022, two webinars were held over the course of the day. The first webinar on the “Challenges in Higher Education in the ASEAN Context” featured resource speaker Dr. John Rovert Carabeo Medina, Associate Director of the Institute of Health Policy and Development Studies at the University of the Philippines Manila. The second webinar discussed the “Health and Safety Protocols in Campuses During Face-to-Face Classes: ASEAN Practice.” This webinar featured Mr. Jonathan Yabut, Founder and Managing Director of the JY Consultancy and Ventures.
On August 30, two webinars featuring international resource speakers were conducted. Dr. Suma Parahakaran, Professor at Manipal Globalnxt University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, gave a talk on “Developing Learning Communities for Disaster Management Education: An Ethical Approach” during the morning. In the afternoon, Dr. Djuwari M. Hum, Associate Professor of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulamaya Surabaya (UNUSA) Indonesia, discussed the “Internationalization of the Higher Education Sector.”
