The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Caraga Regional Office successfully conducted the Internationalization (IZN) Masterclass dubbed as, โ€œFLAIR: Filipino Leaders in Advancing International Reputationโ€ on August 19-20, 2025 at Hotel Oazis, Butuan City.

The two-day activity aimed to capacitate International Relations Officers (IROs) of various higher education institutions across the region on key IZN strategies, the CHED-recognized global ranking systems such as the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Times Higher Education (THE), and World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI), and learn best practices in pursuing strategic global engagements from high-performing HEIs.

Dr. Roger Y. Chao, Jr., Honorary Distinguished Professor of Kyungwoon University, South Korea, shared significant insights on positioning the Philippines in the ASEAN and in the global landscape, including a discussion on strategic approaches to internationalization of HEIs.

Experiences and journeys in IZN and global ranking applications of Caraga State University (CarSU), Bukidnon State University (BukSU), and Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) were shared by distinguished Resource Speakers: Dr. Glenn Arthur A. Garcia, Director, Office of Internationalization and Global Engagements (OIGE) – CarSU; Dr. Jeffrey T. Dellosa, Vice President for Research, Development, Innovation and Extension (RDIE) – CarSU; Dr. Rizza R. Consad, Director, International Affairs and Linkages Unit (IALU) – BukSU; and Dr. Vivian C. Peligro, Director, International Relations and External Affairs – ASSCAT.

CHED Caraga Director IV Dr. Nelia A. Alibin emphasized that FLAIR is a significant step in advancing the internationalization for HEIs in the region, along with its role in the global education community.
